About Us

We are dedicated to bridging the digital divide and empowering communities across Canada.

About Us

Building a Digitally Inclusive Canada

Computers for Success Canada (CFSC-OPEC) is a national non-profit organization committed to building a more digitally inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and economically empowered Canada.

We are primarily funded by the Government of Canada through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). We work with industry leaders and a network of provincial and territorial affiliates to reduce the digital divide, extend the life of technology, and provide digital skills training to Canadians who need it most.

Our Vision

A Canada where no one is excluded from digital participation

We envision a future where every Canadian regardless of geography, income, or background has access to the digital tools, access, training, and support needed to participate fully in society and the economy.

Our Mission

We are driven by three core pillars

Digital
Inclusion

Ensuring equitable access to technology for underserved Canadians, students, immigrants, low-income families, Indigenous communities, and non-profits so no one is left behind in the digital age.

Environmental Responsibility

Reducing Canada’s e-waste footprint by refurbishing and redistributing donated devices, diverting electronics from landfills and extending their useful life in line with industry’s best practice

Workforce Development

Enabling Canada’s future digital workforce through hands-on youth internships in IT refurbishment, digital literacy, and tech support, opening doors to employment and career opportunities.

Our Programs

Empowering Communities for Change

Our programs are supported and funded by the Government of Canada through the Ministry of Innovation Science and Economic Development (ISED).

Computers for
Schools Plus

Thanks to the Affiliate operations in each province and territory, the Computers for Schools Plus (CFS+) program refurbishes used computers to provide schools, libraries, Indigenous communities, low-income Canadians, and non-profits with the technology they need, enhancing digital access and digital literacy for those who might otherwise be excluded.

Connecting Families Initiative

The Connecting Families Initiative (CFI) helps eligible low-income Canadians access affordable high-speed internet, reducing the digital divide and enabling all  Canadians to benefit from internet connectivity.

CEO Pledge

The CEO Pledge is a commitment by business leaders across Canada to donate their used IT assets to Computers for Schools for refurbishment, recycling, and redistribution.

Research Programs

We collect data and conduct research that helps the Government of Canada better address the digital divide. Our research ensures that we are constantly innovating so that our programs reach those individuals and organizations that need them the most. We generate data-driven insights to enhance digital inclusion, support sustainability and ESG, leading to policy recommendations.

Testimonials

Programs That Change Lives

"The students are my true inspiration. It’s easy to want to help them in any way I can. The computers from CFS are one way we do that. It gives them a sense of being a part of this culture, and that’s not something to take lightly.”

“Computers for schools, when it comes down to it, is about real people with real lives. CFS touches so many lives and that’s the really exciting part.”

Susan
“The people I meet here, they come to Canada and they don’t know a word of English. When they get a computer, it helps them learn and helps them communicate back home. It’s simple stuff, but it makes a difference.”

“As a society, if we can promote kindness, if we can hold the door open for someone, why wouldn’t we? This is my little contribution to that. I got into the program because of luck, but I’ve stayed for the people. It’s the people part that makes the difference.”
