Across Canada, we partner with dedicated Affiliates on the Computers for Schools Plus Program, a Government of Canada initiative that works to refurbish computers and other electronic devices, giving them a second life for individuals and organizations who need them the most.

Each province and territory in Canada has a Computers for Schools Plus program. Please contact your local affiliate to organize your donation drop-off, or to request for devices.

Computers for Schools Alberta

Alberta Computers for Schools is a registered not-for-profit organization that, since 1994, has distributed over 200,000 computers to K-12 schools, not-for-profit organizations, low-income families and Indigenous communities across Alberta free-of-charge. Computers that do not meet minimum standards are disposed of by Alberta Recycling Management Authority approved recyclers, easing the burden on our landfills.

BC Technology for Learning Society

BC Tech delivers CFS+ in British Columbia. Since their inception in 1994, they have distributed over 180,000 computers and other devices for schools, non profits and low income families.

Computers for Schools Manitoba

Computers for Schools Manitoba consistently provides an average of 5,000 refurbished computers per year to eligible clients who may not otherwise have access to affordable technology. They also mentor up to 25 youth annually through internships or Co-op placements.

Computers for Schools New Brunswick

Computers for Schools New Brunswick collects and refurbishes donated equipment for schools, non-profit organizations, low-income families and seniors. With more than 25 years of experience, they can handle your equipment surplus needs or provide the access you need to teach and/or learn and thrive in the digital age.

Computers for Schools Newfoundland

Computers for Schools Newfoundland (CFS-NL) began operation in 1993. Since then, the program has grown significantly. In 1999, CFS-NL was incorporated as a separate non-profit corporation and a Registered Charity. CFS-NL has refurbished and donated over 60,000 digital devices all across the province. CFS-NL distributes technology to schools, libraries, not-for-profit organizations and Indigenous communities as well as eligible low income Canadians across Canada.

Nova Scotia Education Common Services Bureau

Computers for Schools Nova Scotia has five workshops operating across the province. To date, they have refurbished and distributed over 30,000 computers to regional schools, first nations, seniors, non-profit organizations including legions, libraries and fire stations.

Their work would not be possible without the generous donations of surplus digital equipment. They hire interns between the ages of 15-30 to help refurbish and prepare used equipment, with the hope of enhancing their employability and marketability.

Smart Communities

Computers for Schools in the Northwest Territories (CFS-NWT) is delivered by Smart Communities Society and plays an important role in increasing access to technology for Canadians north of the 60th parallel. To date, CFS-NWT has refurbished and distributed over 7500 computers to people all across Northwest Territories.

Pinnguaq Association

Computers for Schools Nunavut (CFSN) is administered by Pinnguaq Association with support from the Computers for Schools Plus (CFS+) network across Canada. The work done through the CFSN program is combined with the work of Pinnguaq’s programming currently being developed in Nunavut.

Each year, they deliver hundreds of computers to communities across Nunavut. Their goal is to get computers in the hands of Nunavummiut who need them most, enabling new opportunities through technology – while also reducing e-waste in the territory.

Renewed Computer Technologies Ontario

Renewed Computer Technology (RCT) is a non-profit, charitable organization located in and servicing the province of Ontario. RCT delivers renewed computers to schools, school boards, First Nation bands, Indigenous communities, charities, non-profits, along with individuals and families living with limited income.

RCT is proud to deliver the Computers for Schools Ontario program for over 25 years. RCT works with partners, donors and clients to help to deliver renewed technology, youth intern programs and business environmental programs. To date, over 505,000 computers have been delivered across Ontario though our programs and special initiatives such as #WelcomeRefugees & Connecting Families.

Government of Prince Edward Island

The Government of Prince Edward Island (PEI) accepts surplus computers, electronic equipment and software in order to refurbish and distribute them to learning organizations throughout the province. Registered not-for-profit organization, group or charity across PEI may request refurbished equipment, cost free, as long as it will be used for learning purposes.

To date, more than 20,000 computers has been delivered through the program to schools, libraries and not-for-profit learning organizations throughout the province.

Ordinateurs pour les écoles du Québec

Ordinateurs pour les écoles du Québec (OPEQ), a leader in re-employment, has been encouraging eco-friendly recycling since 1998. We have refurbished and distributed a total of close to 300,000 computers to schools and non-profit organizations across the province.

OPEQ has two sorting centres and six workshops with a work philosophy that is based on equity, diversity and integration, and that enables youth with physical or intellectual limitations to gain formative and rewarding work experience. They are ISO 14001:2015 certified and are approved by the Recycler Qualification Office (RQO).

Saskatchewan Technology Renewal Inc.

Computers for Schools Saskatchewan (CFS-SK) is delivered by Saskatchewan Technology Renewal Inc., a registered charity. CFS-SK distributes over 4,000 computers each year to schools, libraries and non-profits across the province.

They operate two volunteer repair and refurbishing centers in Saskatoon and Regina where surplus computers are cleaned, refurbished, and prepared for delivery. Volunteer workshops are staffed by SaskTel Telephone Pioneers and high school students

Raven Recycling Society

Computers for Schools Yukon is a small shop working to help qualified students, not-for-profit and First Nation organizations to have access to good computer equipment for minimal prices.

With funding from the Federal Government, they are able to help provide paid training for local young adults to give them a better start moving into a career that interests them. They also help local not-for-profits with support in educating the general public in computer and internet use.

Donate your IT assets

Computers for Schools Plus (CFS+) accepts donations from anyone: government, private businesses and individuals. By donating to one of our CFS+ Affiliates, you not only provide hardware and computer equipment to those who need it the most, you  are also contributing to more sustainable practices. As an added bonus, your donation is tax deductible.

Internships

Building a Digitally Inclusive Canada

The Computer For School Intern (CFSI) program provides youth with valuable work experience to develop advanced digital skills. CFSI supports young Canadians from diverse backgrounds, enhancing their digital abilities and soft skills such as project management, teamwork, and communication.

To participate in CFSI, you must:

- Be aged 15 to 30 at the start of the internship.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted refugee status in Canada.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
