Computers for Success Canada – Ordinateurs pour l’excellence Canada (“CFSC-OPEC”) is committed to protecting your privacy. The following privacy policy applies to the collection, use, and disclosure (by disclosure, we mean who this information could be shared with) by CFSC-OPEC of information regarding identifiable individuals (“Personal Information”) from the CFSC-OPEC and “Connecting-Families” websites.
For the purposes of this Policy, “Personal Information” refers to any information about an identifiable individual or any information that allows an individual to be identified. An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, by reference to an identifier such as a name, identification number, location data, online identifier, or other specific factors.

CFSC-OPEC collects the following identifiable data and Personal Information:
1. Contact information: Name, home address, email address, and phone number (including mobile number, where provided).
2. Demographic information: Age and gender of individuals within a household.
3. Supplier data: Contact details and other relevant information about service providers to CFSC-OPEC.
4. Social media: Posts, likes, tweets, and other interactions with our social media presence.
5. Technical information: Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, language preference, access times, operating system, device type, and network information.
6. Online data: Information about website visits, including URL clickstream, network performance, page response times, and interaction data.
The collection of information in sections “Technical information” and “Online data” is done anonymously. CFSC-OPEC does not collect Personal Information about online activities across third-party websites.
CFSC-OPEC does not knowingly collect information from individuals under 16 years old. If you are a minor under 16 years old, do not provide us with any Personal Information without parental or guardian consent. If we learn that we have collected such information without verification of consent, we will take steps to remove it from our systems.
II. Use of Your Personal Information
CFSC-OPEC uses your Personal Information to identify you and determine your eligibility for programs and initiatives. We will not share this Personal Information with any third parties other than those listed below. CFSC-OPEC will only process your Personal Information with prior consent or if necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations. We use your personal information to contact you regarding your participation in the “Connecting-Families” initiative and to collect anonymous demographic information for assessing program effectiveness. Your email will not be added to a mailing list unless you provide explicit consent.
III. Disclosure or Transfer of Your Personal Information
CFSC-OPEC shares your Personal Information with Partner Organizations* and Service Providers** to the extent necessary to deliver programs and services. These organizations are required to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
Partner Organizations include:
- Computers for Schools program affiliates
- An independent academic research committee
- Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
Service Providers include:
- Internet Service Providers and/or software providers
- Shipping partners
- Silverorange Inc. (web developer)
- Amazon Web Services
CFSC-OPEC will not share, disclose, or otherwise provide Personal Information to Partner Organizations and Service Providers for any reasons other than those stated above.
IV. Security and Storage of Your Personal Information
CFSC-OPEC is committed to protecting your Personal Information through appropriate security measures. All Personal Information is stored in a highly secure data center in Canada, using strong encryption while in transit and at rest. We ensure that Personal Information disclosed to Partner Organizations and Service Providers is also protected through signed confidentiality agreements.
Some CFSC-OPEC Service Providers may store Personal Information outside of Canada. If required by law, Personal Information could be made accessible to legal authorities in those jurisdictions. If you have concerns about this, please contact our Privacy Officer.
V. Statistics, Sharing, and External Links
CFSC-OPEC’s websites, newsletters, and communications may contain links to external websites not owned or operated by CFSC-OPEC. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external websites and encourage users to review their privacy policies. This privacy policy applies only to Personal Information collected through CFSC-OPEC websites.
