Canada Games x CFSC: Technology with Purpose
At Computers for Success Canada (CFSC-OPEC), advancing digital inclusion and environmental sustainability go hand in hand. Through the Computers for Schools Plus (CFS+)program, supported and funded by the government of Canada, CFSC and the network of 14 provincial and territorial affiliates are helping build a circular economy by extending the life of technology across Canada.
Our multi-Games partnership with the Canada Games Council (CGC) exemplifies how collaboration can drive both digital access and sustainability. Through this partnership, CFS+ affiliates are providing refurbished computers and equipment to support upcoming Canada Games Host Societies in 2027, 2029, and 2031, as well as the CGC itself.
By refurbishing and reusing devices, this initiative helps reduce e-waste, lower emissions associated with new manufacturing and promote the responsible use of digital resources, all while ensuring the technology needs of the Games are met.
The impact of this partnership was first demonstrated at the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games, where Computers for Schools Newfoundland and Labrador (CFS-NL) supplied over 500 refurbished devices, including laptops, desktops, monitors, and cellphones. These devices played a vital role in equipping staff and volunteers to deliver Canada’s largest amateur multi-sport event, while minimizing the environmental footprint of the Games.
Together, CFSC, CFS+ affiliates, and the CGC are advancing a shared vision: fostering innovation, promoting circular practices, and ensuring that major national events like the Canada Games leave a meaningful and sustainable legacy.
By making refurbished technology part of the Canada Games ecosystem, this partnership highlights how reuse and collaboration can create long-term value for both people and the planet.
